Senior Citizens have a special place in my heart. For the past 8 years I have been a volunteer for Del Mar Community Connections which is a local organization that provides services and support for their local senior citizens whose true desire is to age in place more easily. The volunteers provide an invaluable service to the elders by offering to take them to and from crucial appointments, or assist them with their personal errands and/or household needs. Being a Realtor for over the past 30 years, I have a true understanding of the concept that “there is no place like HOME”. Some of my previous clients have lived in their homes their entire lives, and grow incredibly attached to not just the home itself but, more times than not, to all of the memories created in that home.
For some people downsizing is key when thinking of their next home. I recently completed several courses and became certified as a Senior Residential Specialist (SRES). I have the tools needed to understand what would be useful in their next home, or better yet how to make their current home safer for them to reside in as long as possible.
