Several years ago I started making small adjustments here and there to live a healthier and cleaner life. These minor revisions have evolved into life changing experiences. Bit by bit, step by step. I realized that by incorporating a cleaner way to eat and live not only had a profound impact on me personally, but was also making a small contribution in helping the environment in which I live.
If you or someone you know is interested or curious about eating “clean”, or simply want to know how you can adjust your daily routine to be more friendly to our environment, then continue reading. I simply wanted to provide some resources and helpful tips for you. For me, it has been a fun and eye-opening journey. I love learning new things especially when it comes to cooking, and moving towards a less toxic lifestyle.
Listed below are some of the documentaries that encouraged me to stay on this journey. I would like to share them with you:
A Plastic Ocean- After watching this, I realized how many items we buy that are packaged in plastic. Instead of buying our favorite juice that is delivered in plastic packaging, we now opt for the brand that sells it in a glass bottle. I also became more sensitive to how much plastic wrap and Ziplock bags I use. Instead of using those, I now use: Beeswax Food Wraps, and Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags both can be purchased on Amazon.
The Game Changers- After watching this incredible movie, I committed to making 2-4 meals each week plant based. I must admit, I feel much better physically when I avoid animal proteins. I do still eat some animal proteins, but there is a difference in my overall feeling of well being that I cannot deny. A great resource for recipes and other interesting facts www.cleanfooddirtygirl.com
Toxic Beauty- This is an informative documentary on the ingredients that manufacturers put in our everyday cleaning and beauty products that can be very detrimental to our health over time. This was a real eye opener for me. A great WEBSITE or APP that evaluates nearly every product in the market, and is so helpful regarding information on what ingredients could be harmful. www.thinkdirtyapp.com Not only does it let you know how the product you are using could be toxic, but it offers alternatives to that product that would be less harmful.
I also recommend checking out www.theorganicbunny.com. Amanda (the founder) has done an incredible job trying and testing so many of the “clean” products available today. She sells only the cleanest brands on her website along with providing tutorials. I will not get into specifics about which beauty products that I use at this time, but I am happy to share that there is a household cleaning product that I discovered through her website that I am a huge fan of. Check out www.branchbasics.com.They offer a wide range of cleaning products for your home that are toxin free and great for the environment. Again, if you would like more information or helpful hints, feel free to contact me. I would love to help you make your home a safer place to live.
